STUDENTS VOLUNTEER FOR BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK
This week Mrs. Cosentino and several of our staff, students, families and alumni volunteered at Blessings in a Backpack. Blessings In a Backpack is a “neighbor-helping-neighbor” program that is designed to help meet the nutritional needs of children and families.
Each week, volunteers, in cooperation with school officials, distribute backpacks filled with enough non-perishable food for the weekend (six meals) to “at-risk” students. These students are participants in the government subsidized free or reduced fee hot lunch program.
The goal of the Blessings in a Backpack program is to keep these students from going hungry on the weekends and remove barriers to academic success.
Our local Rochester organization is led by Mrs. Kim Williams, a RHS parent.

ROTARY STUDENTS GIVING BACK
Rotary Interact students took time out of their weekend to help Rotarians in the community clean the Rotary Park by the Rochester Hills Library.
Rotary Interact Students raised almost $100 to help end Polio. Rotarians have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. For as little as $0.60, a child can be protected against this crippling disease for life. For more information, please visit www.my.rotary.org

RHS STUDENTS IN THE OAKLAND YOUTH ORCHESTRA
Rochester High students Taehoon Song, Yoojin Bae, Jonathan Yoannides-Young and Ian Gebbie are members of Oakland Youth Orchestra (OYO). They recently performed at the OYO Fall Concert at the Oxford Performing Arts Center in Oxford Michigan. The evening’s program included Antonin Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance Op.46, No. 8 and Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Opus 95. Members of OYO come from across Oakland County. They rehearse every week and have three performances per year. The OYO is comprised of several different ensembles, and the RHS students pictured here are members of the Symphony Orchestra.
