NO SCHOOL - MID WINTER BREAK

There is no school Monday, February 19 and Tuesday, February 20 due to Mid-Winter Break.

SPOTLIGHT ON INSTRUCTION

Joyeuse Saint Valentin!
For Valentine’s Day this year, Mr. Arcangeli's French students took a virtual tour of the French village of Saint Valentin and explored some of its traditions.  Although there are only 258 permanent residents, the village welcomes thousands of visitors each year who come to get married, to plant trees in the Jardin des Amoureux, or to dine at the Au 14 Février restaurant.  The French village of Saint-Valentin also promotes cultural exchanges with its sister cities of St. Valentin, Austria, and Sakuto-Cho, Japan.  Most importantly, for those days leading up to February 14th, a seasonal post-office handles thousands of letters, postcards, and announcements seeking to be postmarked with the interwoven hearts symbolic of the village of Saint Valentin!

2018 FOUNDERS DAY CELEBRATION

Picture
Each year, the Rochester Community Schools PTA Council celebrates the accomplishments and dedication of some of the many members of our PTAs and PTSAs -- parents, educators, students and administrators -- who give of themselves above and beyond to serve our schools and our community. Please join us in applauding the three outstanding representatives of RHS who will be honored this year: Kendall Jordan, Denette Fend, and Casey Wescott!

Kendall is a decorated scholar and exceptional athlete. But what separates her from her peers is her compassion and selflessness. Kendall has given countless hours to serve others. She’s a student with the ability to make one reflect on the impact one wants to leave on the world.

Denette plays a crucial role in improving student health and performance as both the district and RHS Health and Wellness Committee Chair. Her enthusiasm, dedication and innovative efforts help students both get involved and cope with stress.

Casey’s can-do attitude transcends to the entire RHS community. Ask him for help, and he will be there. His passion for RCS is evident as he serves on districtwide committees to make our schools better.

These three members of our RHS community will be honored at the Founder's Day event on February 22 where they will be recognized for their contributions and commitment to our school community both here at RHS and throughout the district and beyond.

VARIETY SHOW AUDITIONS

Auditions for the 2018 Variety Show will be held on Wednesday, February 21st and Thursday, February 22nd. Student performers can sign up for an audition time for either day on the auditorium lobby door. This year’s show, “Welcome to the Olympics” will take place on Wednesday, February 28th at 7PM. General admission tickets are available at the door for $5. All proceeds will support the Theatre program at RHS.
